The Lounge transforms the concept of social networking into social learning. It integrates a variety of social media tools to create a powerful learning and development opportunity for career college professionals.

Learning by doing is the best way to experience The Lounge. This is your informal learning space, so just play and learn! Below is some information that you may find useful (listed alphabetically). Of course, you are always welcome to contact MaxKnowledge Support if you are having any technical difficulties or have any questions.

Blogs
You are empowered to be your own personal publisher! Post your thoughts and ideas! You can control who can see each individual blog entry, as well as find other entries that people have written on similar topics. You can also see entries written by your contacts. We encourage you to allow commenting in your posted blogs, which turns an individual act of publishing into a conversation.

Bookmarks
You probably are very familiar with collecting and storing bookmarks in your computer’s browser ("Favorites" or "Bookmarks"). The Lounge allows you to collect and store bookmarks online and then share them with others. You can also tag your bookmarks (using keywords) to make them searchable by others. When you share a bookmark with a contact, the bookmark appears in their Bookmarks inbox.

Contacts
Connect with your selected peers in The Lounge. When you visit a member’s profile page, you can add the member as a contact. On your contacts page, you can categorize your contacts by forming different collections of contacts.

Dashboard
The Dashboard is your central area to monitor all activities within The Lounge. You can display and sort activities how ever you like.

Files
You can upload any type of file to the site. Like any other resource, you can control who can see your files. On the files page, you can view files uploaded by yourself, your contacts and other members of The Lounge.

Groups
Set up your own group or join other groups to share content and discuss ideas on particular topics. You can create and moderate as many private or public groups as you like. Groups can include their own blogs, discussions and files. Each group has its own URL and you can follow group developments through RSS feeds.

Members
You can search the members of The Lounge and view their profiles and activities. You can add members with similar interests as your contacts to follow their activities. Remember that you may not be able to access some resources. All members (including your contacts) can determine the access permissions for any individual resource or information they put on the site.

Profile
Use your profile page to let others know about you. You have control over the access information (who sees what) and how you want to display the information. Member profiles can be accessed through their photo icons.

RSS Feeds
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds are available on all resource pages to allow you to keep up with new postings. Simply click on "Subscribe to feed" to receive alerts when there is new content on that page. Each specific resource page has its own RSS feed. For example, to receive notifications of comments on a blog, make sure to subscribe to the feed for that particular blog.

Settings
Here, you can edit your account and tools settings. You can also configure your email notification settings.

Tags
You can assign tags to any new content you create. A tag is a keyword that describes the content. Tags make searching for information and content easier and more effective.

The Wire
The wire is a micro-blogging service like Twitter. You can share information/updates with the members of The Lounge and follow your favorite wirers.
